Germ-free operating theatre

The Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen is not only medically state of the art, but also excellently equipped in terms of infrastructure. Clean air is the cornerstone for optimal performance in the operating theatre, because the best air quality provides safety for patients and the surgical team.
Germ-free air in operating theatres, the surgical area and set-up zones not only reduces the risk of post-operative infections, but also the risk of death. It also shortens the length of hospital stay and contributes to the rapid recovery of patients.

To ensure these conditions, the quality of the clean air system is crucial. Taking into account various influencing factors such as room temperature, humidity and noise level, a suitable fan was installed. The V-belt driven centrifugal fan with a two-sided intake opening conveys the air with a volume flow of 32,000 Bm³/h, a pressure increase of 3,100 Pa and a motor power of 55 kW. This application option shows how important limitless performance can be.
