What are the distinguishing features of radial fans with a belt drive?
Radial fans differ mostly from conventional fans in how the belt drive and intermediate shaft are arranged. They do not necessarily need a frequency converter. The fan and drive (motor) are decoupled, enabling low-resonance operation. Altogether, there are various factors and criteria that make radial fans with a belt drive a favourable option. There are various ways of counteracting premature wear when conveying abrasive media – that is, materials that cause friction or have an abrasive effect. If the plant handles explosive media or the fan is used in similarly hazardous areas, safety is ensured by a design that complies with the ATEX directive and features the relevant certification.
Additionally, selected sensor values (such as speed) are monitored, queried and evaluated during operation, enabling the operator to check and, if necessary, adjust the performance parameters.
