Reference: Hot gas radial fan
Two long-standing Ried companies Senftenbacher Ziegelwerk and Scheuch partner for environmentally friendly project Scheuch and Senftenbacher have been working together for many years. Most recently Scheuch was awarded their latest project to install a hot gas fans for Senftenbacher’s plant addition.
The addition of the brick kiln would allow Senftenbacher to increase production, but they also wanted to ensure a quality product in the most energy efficient way. Peter Flotzinger, Managing Director of Senftenbacher, explains the project: “By extending the kiln, we want to significantly reduce the energy required for the heating and cooling phases and thus achieve more environmentally friendly product manufacture”. The furnace temperatures can reach up to 900 degrees Celsius (1652 degrees Fahrenheit).
Handling hot temperatures
The Scheuch hot gas fans will move air at temperatures of up to 1,000°C (1832° F). Leonhard Zeilinger, Head of Sales at Scheuch COMPONENTS, explains further: “Special impeller geometries allow designs without housings or baffle plates. Depending on the impeller diameter and the application, different types of motors can be realized. Common applications include air circulation in heat treatment furnaces for metals, glass or bricks. Ni-Cr (nickel chromium) steels and Ni-based (nickel) alloys are used to withstand the challenges they pose.
Neighbors helping Neighbors
For this reason, Scheuch supplied and installed not only the two hot gas fans for the extension but also pipe sections, a chimney with a cooling air fan and the steel structure.
Gabriel Schustereder, Project Manager at Scheuch COMPONENTS, was responsible for the Senftenbacher order says: “The implementation of the project was quite challenging. However, because Senftenbacher has always been great to work with, it was possible to implement the work as planned and achieve a positive project conclusion. What also made it easier to work with them is that we are only 6 km (4 mi.) away from the customer.”
