Radial fan with coupling drive
The right radial fan with coupling drive to meet your needs
The radial fan is the core component and driving force of any ventilation system.
In this case, the drive takes the form of an elastic coupling acting on the intermediate shaft – without the kind of upstream transmission that would be found on a belt drive. In situations involving larger dimensions, the fan components can be embedded into a concrete foundation instead of a steel bracket.
Standard performance date
Volume flow: Up to approx. 720,000 m³/h
Pressure increase: Up to approx. 30,000 Pa
Temperature: Up to approx. 500 °C

The special features of radial fans with coupling drive
Radial fans with coupling drive can be used in diverse applications across a range of industries and sectors. This type of fan is particularly well suited to situations involving high motor power.
The coupling (generally a claw coupling with an elastic insert) can absorb shocks and torsional vibrations, thus protecting the material.
Furthermore, an offset (angular, parallel or axial offset) between the motor shaft and intermediate shaft can be compensated to a certain extent, which means that the motor is relatively easy to dismount. If, for example, damage occurs, process downtime is kept to a minimum as the motor can be replaced quickly.
Where are radial fans with coupling drive used?
If the motor bearings are not sufficient for mounting the impeller directly on the motor shaft, larger impellers are used and radial fans with coupling drive are employed. The intermediate shaft with the bearing therefore has the task of carrying the impeller and all associated forces.
When the impeller is mounted directly on the motor shaft, the bearing is heated by the conveying medium on one side and by the motor on the other side. As the distance between the fan housing and the drive motor is greater in the case of radial fans with coupling drive, this type of fan is particularly well suited to use in high temperatures.
If the conveying medium reaches around 450 °C, further measures must be taken.
Radial fans with coupling drive are often used in the cement industry due to the particularly harsh operating conditions present there.
Transport of abrasive media
Various types of wear protection options are available for transporting abrasive media. A version with ATEX conformity (plus corresponding certification) is available for use in potentially explosive atmospheres or for transporting potentially explosive media.
You can also use our additional and safety equipment for radial fans to make using them even more convenient and safe.
How can I monitor the condition of my radial fan?
Sensor values relating to bearing temperatures, vibration velocities or speed monitoring, for instance, provide information about the current state of the equipment and can be evaluated during operation.
