hot-gas radial fan
for conveying media at up to 1,000 °C
Fans are usually key elements of production processes with ventilation systems.
If the operating site has to contend with high temperatures, it will use hot-gas fans in the process of transporting media. Both the design and the materials used in hot-gas fans ensure reliable operation even in high-temperature zones.
Scheuch COMPONENTS hot-gas fans convey media at temperatures of up to and over 1,000 °C thanks to special design measures and the use of high-quality materials and enabling a heat treatment plant, for example, to be equipped with heating, annealing and cooling zones from a single source.

What are the distinguishing features of hot-gas fans?
The special hot-gas fan design and the use of materials that are resistant to high thermal loads enable media to be transported in the high-temperature range. Suitable cooling processes also ensure safe continuous operation.
Different types of drive are used according to the impeller diameter and the required application. Hot-gas fans boast the following advantages, depending on which model or type they are:
- Compact design for cramped production sites
- Flexible application options at operating sites with challenging thermal loads
- Models that are scalable to the conveyor temperature and air circulation
Where are hot-gas fans used?
A standout feature of hot-gas fans is their ability to be used flexibly in a range of applications. They are generally used in high-temperature zones. The areas of application can also be related to specific industries, such as:
- Air circulation in heat treatment furnaces for metals, glass or bricks
- Recirculation fans for aluminium melting furnaces
- Conveying of exhaust gases from combustion plants or test benches
- Other hot-air and hot-gas applications
What criteria should be used to select a hot-gas fan?
There is a range of hot-gas fan designs and sizes available to choose from, depending on the required function and the existing temperature range. The most important criterion is probably the conveyor temperature that is present at the operating site. In addition, the materials used are a crucial consideration from the perspective of function and safety.
We use selected Cr-Ni steels and Ni-based alloys to ensure that our products can withstand high loads over the long term. These components are processed with the utmost care at our main plant in Aurolzmünster, Austria. It is also essential to choose a sophisticated cooling and ventilation system that will ensure low-maintenance operation over the long term.
How do hot-gas fans achieve a controlled and uniform flow?
Numerical simulation processes can be used to check and optimize the desired effects in advance. Scheuch COMPONENTS uses flow simulations to optimize the inflow of our hot-gas fans. The resulting controlled flow plays a significant role in the quality of the heating processes and, importantly, the manufactured batch.
Furthermore, this technology makes it possible to use the energy supplied by the fan as efficiently as possible. The flow control system, for example, can be adapted to the spatial conditions in the kiln with the aid of flow simulations. This reduces high-speed gradients and prevents dead zones.
How can hot-gas fans be protected at high fluid temperatures?
Our hot-gas fans are produced using heat-resistant metal alloys, effective high-temperature greases and mechanical cooling components. Additional thermal insulation can be used as an option to shield casing surfaces against extreme temperatures or prevent possible heat loss.
Independently of fan operation, active additional cooling can also help protect particularly vulnerable components such as rolling bearings if required, even after the fan has been switched off.
What are the advantages of hot-gas fans from Scheuch COMPONENTS?
Our company boasts many years of experience in the radial fans segment. By continually developing our product range, we ensure that Scheuch COMPONENTS hot-gas fans stand the test of extreme operating situations with temperatures up to 1,000 °C. We design the geometry of our hot-gas fan impellers to suit the application – and can omit casings or baffle plates as an option. We can also equip your plant with a complete heat treatment system including heating, annealing and cooling zones from a single source. Not only that, but we also provide additional components for additional and safety equipment for radial fans fans that are to be used at operating sites exposed to high thermal risks.
High standards for your hot-gas fan
