A common goal: CO₂ reduction through intelligent conveying technology
Biochar, energy efficiency and climate protection – how Resurses is paving the way to a sustainable future with Scheuch COMPONENTS
In the heart of Switzerland, the company Resurses is pursuing an ambitious goal: to sustainably improve the carbon footprint of the regional timber industry. An innovative energy concept uses the residual materials from sawn timber production – such as bark, sawdust and wood chips – to generate not only heat and electricity, but also high-quality biochar. This permanently binds CO₂ and enables the issuance of CO₂ certificates.
To ensure that this environmentally friendly cycle works, Resurses is counting on the expertise of Scheuch COMPONENTS. Our conveying technology ensures that all materials are transported efficiently, safely and in a resource-saving manner throughout the entire process – from bark to bottled biochar.
Perform better
Stability, flexibility and continuous supply through smart conveying solutionsIn a production process as complex as Resurses’, conveying technology is crucial to efficiency and process reliability. The solution implemented by Scheuch COMPONENTS ensures reliable material flow across all plant areas – with varying moisture levels of up to 50%, different grain sizes and complex recirculation processes.
Whether sawdust, wood chips, dust, biochar or bark: our systems ensure uniform feeding of dryers, pyrolysis plants, boilers and combined heat and power plants – and thus consistently high product quality with low environmental impact.
Significant components
Conveying technology that optimises processesAt Resurses, wood is utilised as a raw material in its entirety.
The conveying technology from Scheuch COMPONENTS used at Resurses consists of around 60 products and is characterised by its versatility, robustness and seamless integration into the overall process. Some highlights:
- Debarking & material handling: The bark is transported using several spiral conveyors and transfer troughs, which guide the material precisely to the push-floor system. A chipper shreds larger pieces of bark for thermal use.
- Drying and screening processes: Our conveying technology handles the feeding of two-zone dryers, belt dryers and fine material separation. A push-floor drying system ensures consistent quality and energy yield – essential for pyrolysis and wood gas production.
- Conveying system for pyrolysis: Wood chips and fine particles are transported to the pyrolysis plant via several conveyor lines, including spiral screens and material separators. The uniform supply guarantees stable production of biochar.
- Pelletising plant: Dry chips are transported via several conveyor spirals to the pelletising plant, where they are processed in the Pellet Cube.
- Plant carbon logistics: After pyrolysis, special screw conveyors – some with water injection and manual control – take over the filling of big bags. The technology is designed to protect the delicate carbon structure and prevent dust formation.
- Return of materials to external bunkers: The return process maintains a continuous production cycle. This intelligent integration ensures the supply of all plant components – even during fluctuating production peaks.
Both the heat from the CHP plant and the biochar produced contribute significantly to decarbonisation. The company is virtually energy self-sufficient thanks to photovoltaics and its own electricity production via CHP units, and makes a measurable contribution to climate protection.
Our partners
Resurses SAResurses SA is a Swiss company that specialises in the complete recycling of sawmill residues. Using modern technologies, it converts wood waste into energy, heat and biochar – for greater CO₂ efficiency and regional security of supply. Resurses SA is the end customer for the project and the initiator of the entire system.
Since 1989, Heim AG has been developing innovative heating systems based on renewable energies. With its own production facilities in Switzerland, it implements tailor-made energy solutions and building automation for customers throughout the country. The company was commissioned by Resurses to implement the project and is responsible for all system engineering, including conveying technology.
Inkoh AG produces high-quality biochar for CO₂ binding and offers solutions for agriculture, industry and climate protection – including CO₂ certificates and heat supply for regional networks. At Resurses, Inkoh AG is responsible for operating the plant and for the production and quality assurance of the biochar.
